Compassion has become the singular quality through which I understand God to be at work in the world.

This is an example of a ministry that looked “outside the box” and sought not just to provide for basic needs of food and water but to provide for the human need for fellowship and affirmation.

I am being profoundly transformed by the reality that I am one with all the Universe, Mystery and Life. I can do nothing but seek authentic, loving, peace-building relationship with and among creation.

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia’s Green Team and Environmental Stewardship Committee have worked to ensure that future church leaders know about and have experience in caring for creation.

I share this story because it reminds me how important it is to take risk—be it big or small—to be vulnerable with people—to expose oneself.

I knew that this is not what God would ever want for these children and I wanted to help.

Ok I didn’t really hitchhike to D.C., but it seems like every time I stuck my thumb out to ask for help with this journey, someone was there to pick me up.

I came here thinking that working for God is about what you do for people. It’s not. It’s about how you know people. And knowing people isn’t as complicated as I used to think.

I often ask myself, why was I the lucky one? I still don’t have an answer.

I aim to be the worker for good every time.
